I would like to thank all of you who took some
time last weekend to look over the 3 options put forward. I did not want to make a decision without getting some kind of input from
you the parishioners. From feedback I have already heard from day one, the sign we had was not adequate. Since I said I was going to get
bids on the 3 options, I wanted to present all 3 options to you.

The sign was not on our radar for an upcoming expense, so we had not budgeted for it. It would be nice if we could fundraise the
expense. I am willing to put Jars of Jam out there, if that would ‘sweeten’ the deal. If you would like to make a contribution to the sign,
please clearly mark your donation “Parish Sign”.

We are in the middle of some wonderful Feast days, last week was Pentecost, this week is The Most Holy Trinity, and next week we
will celebrate The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (or Corpus Christi). These three Feast are ways of stressing belief and
understanding of the importance to our faith. Pentecost, reminds us of how that descent of the Holy Spirit changed the lives of all that
are touched. And that we, ourselves, are touched by that same Holy Spirit in our Baptism and Confirmation. Our lives too are called to
be forever changed.

This weekend’s Feast stresses that we have only 1 God, but know that God through 3 persons. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We profess
this belief every time we make the sign of the cross. Please do not make that sign lightly whenever we make it, either starting or ending
a prayer, on entering or leaving church, or receiving a blessing. Let us remember that Holy Trinity, that one God who is Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit.

Next week, we celebrate that Holy Body and Blood of Christ. When we come forward for communion, do we think about what we are
receiving?? This is not simply a ‘symbol’ we are receiving!! We believe and profess as Catholics, that this IS HIS BODY and HIS BLOOD.
One of the reasons that we as Catholics do not have what is known as an ‘Open Altar’ (that all can come and receive), is because we
believe different things. This also means that we as Catholics should not be receiving communion in another church. Even if we are told
we are welcome to, we do not profess the same believe.

This is a wonderful time of year. The weather has gotten much nicer than even a month or two ago. School has let out for summer
break. Things are growing all around us, why not our faith. The next time you cross yourself, do it with care, do it with love, do it with
respect.

I ask this in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. How many of you just made the sign of the cross?? Did you do it
without thinking or did you do it with thought and purpose?

Blessings
Fr Backer

At the time of this writing, I have not yet had a chance to look at the input on the sign.
